Teacher Development

Systematic professional development for practising teachers across Cambodia

Our core work focuses on building teaching quality through a structured three-stage pathway: foundational preparation, intensive methodology training, and sustained development through peer learning networks.

We work through established government structures rather than creating parallel systems. Our training integrates with MoEYS priorities and operates through all 18 Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) that serve Cambodia’s 25 provinces, building institutional capacity whilst delivering immediate classroom impact.

The Pathway

Pre-Base Training: Foundational Preparation

Before engaging with pedagogical training, many teachers need to develop English language competency and digital skills. Our English for Teachers (EFT) and IT for Teachers programmes address these foundational needs through blended learning that combines independent study with practical application. Both programmes are recognised by MoEYS within the national professional development framework.

Base Training: EPPS (English for Public Primary Schools)

Our flagship programme delivers systematic professional development in teaching methodology through 20 intensive workshops over six months. While delivered through English language teaching, EPPS uses our TPA (Transferable Pedagogical Approaches) framework—methodology that strengthens teaching practice across all subjects. The programme combines workshop sessions with coaching visits, ensuring teachers don’t just learn about effective practice but embed it in their daily teaching. EPPS is fully accredited by MoEYS.

Professional Learning Communities: Sustained Development

The most effective professional development happens through ongoing peer exchange. Our PLCs are district-based networks of programme graduates that meet regularly for continued learning, collaborative problem-solving, and peer support. PLCs also serve as the delivery mechanism for continuing professional development as we scale nationally.

Specialist Programme Contexts

Beyond EPPS, we deliver adapted programmes for specific contexts: SEED for secondary STEM teachers using CLIL methodology, and ITTSR for early-career teachers in NGO and community schools.

How We Deliver

Training follows a systematic approach: intensive initial workshops introduce new methods, follow-up coaching embeds practices in real classrooms, and ongoing support through PLCs ensures sustained change. We measure progress through classroom observation and teacher performance data, not just training attendance.

Teachers access our programmes through their Provincial or District Offices of Education. We do not recruit teachers directly; enrolment follows government structures that ensure training aligns with system needs.
